Mava Research

Mava Research, led by Vuyani Lingela, supports businesses and non-profit organisations in achieving their strategic objectives through innovation and effective partnerships. Vuyani Lingela is a seasoned leader with experience spanning the private, public, social impact, and academic sectors.

He is the founder of Mava Tutors, serves as the Coordinator for Africa for the Africa–Asia Platform Project, and is a Non-Executive Director of ForFarmers Financial Services. His previous roles include Chief Director at South Africa’s Department of Science and Technology, Counsellor for Science and Technology at the South African Embassy in Japan, and Executive Director of the National Advisory Council on Innovation in South Africa.

He has also served as a Lecturer at Nelson Mandela University and a Research Assistant at the University of Cape Town. Vuyani holds a Master’s degree in Agriculture, a Bachelor of Agriculture Honours from the University of Pretoria, and a Bachelor of Agriculture from the University of Fort Hare. He completed advanced research training at the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology in Japan and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel.

His work is informed by extensive international experience, having lived and worked in Azerbaijan, Botswana, Brazil, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, Eswatini, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Malawi, Namibia, Portugal, Romania, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, the United States of America, and Zambia.
